The 2021 NFL Draft is officially in the books, which means that experts all across the media landscape are now releasing their grades for each club’s rookie class (among them Pats Pulpit’s own Michael McDermott, who gave the team an “A” for its efforts). While they are only a snapshot and no proper tool to analyze how successful the players added will eventually be, it is still interesting to see how each club performed.

The New England Patriots, for example, earned some high grades as a recent compilation of 26 evaluations shows (via René Bugner). Only five other clubs earned a higher GPA as the Patriots’ 3.44:

Across the board, New England earned grades between A+ and B- — a more favorable range than that of the fourth-ranked Miami Dolphins (3.62 GPA) or the fifth-ranked New York Jets (3.60 GPA). The analysts are apparently feeling good about the job Bill Belichick and company did over the weekend.

The same cannot be said for one of Belichick’s former colleagues: ex-Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio, who left the team in January, earned just a 1.71 GPA for his first draft class as the Houston Texans’ general manager.
